These terms are the agreement between you and Corner for using the Corner app and website. You agree to them, and to the Community Guidelines, as you create your account, by tapping Create account under the sentence that says so; athletes agree the first time they sign in. Please read them with the Privacy Policy and the Community Guidelines. [For the lawyer: Corner's legal name and address (the company website says Corner Technologies, Inc.), and the sentence people agree with, which the app shows right above Create account and keeps with the time they agreed.]
What Corner is
Corner is a subscription chat app: you pay a monthly price for each athlete whose chat you want to read. Each athlete has one chat, and everything they post reaches all of their subscribers at once.
You see the athlete's messages and your own replies, never other fans or their replies. When an athlete answers a reply, every fan sees the answer with that reply quoted, never the name of who wrote it. Nobody can send a private message to one fan.
Who can use Corner
- Corner is for people aged 13 and older, and 14 and older in South Korea.
- Give your real date of birth when you sign up. Fans under 18 are marked as minors, and Corner holds more of their replies for the Corner team to check. [For the lawyer: what fans aged 13 to 17 need, for example a parent's permission; whether they may buy subscriptions (for now they can, and the Corner team has a switch to stop it); what US state age laws require; and whether fans in South Korea, where adults are 19, count as minors until then.]
- Athletes join by invitation from the Corner team, and also have their own agreement with Corner. [For the lawyer: how that agreement and these terms fit together.]
- The Corner app is for iPhone and Android, in every country except mainland China and Russia. Subscribing on the web is for the US only.
Your account
- You sign in with your email: Corner sends you a one-time code, or a link. Anyone who can read your email can sign in as you, so keep your email account safe.
- Your nickname is private (the Privacy Policy says who sees it). Choose one that follows the Community Guidelines.
- Fans can delete their account at any time, in the app's Settings or on the “Delete your account” page of Corner's website. Athlete and Corner team accounts are closed by the Corner team. To close one, email support@cornerhq.app.
Subscriptions and prices
- You subscribe to each athlete separately. Subscriptions are billed monthly.
- In the app, you pay through the App Store or Google Play, at the price the store shows you, in your own currency.
- On an iPhone using the US App Store, Corner may also offer a button to subscribe on the web: you pay the web price on the button (for example $4.99 a month) plus US sales tax, by card, through Stripe.
- Web subscriptions are for US cards only. A payment with a card from outside the US is refunded, and that subscription ends.
- If you already subscribe to an athlete, in a store or on the web, the app says you're subscribed instead of selling you the subscription again.
- [For the lawyer: how price changes are announced. The App Store and Google Play have their own rules for this.]
Renewing and cancelling
- Subscriptions renew automatically each month until you cancel.
- You can cancel anytime. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
- Cancel an App Store subscription in your iPhone's subscription settings, a Google Play one in Google Play, and a web one on Stripe's billing page, which the app's Settings opens.
- If a web payment fails, the chat locks until you update your card. If an App Store or Google Play renewal fails, the chat stays open through the store's grace period, then locks while the store keeps trying.
- If you delete your Corner account: Stripe and Google Play subscriptions stop, and nothing is refunded; an App Store subscription keeps billing until you cancel it in your iPhone's settings.
Refunds
- Apple handles refunds of App Store payments: ask Apple.
- For a Google Play payment, ask Google Play or Corner's support: the Corner team can refund your latest Google Play payment.
- For a web payment, ask Corner's support: the Corner team can refund it through Stripe.
- Refunding a subscription's latest payment ends your access to that chat at once. A web or Google Play subscription whose latest payment the Corner team refunds also stops renewing. An App Store one may still renew after Apple's refund, until you cancel it in your iPhone's subscription settings. Refunding an older month changes nothing else.
- [For the lawyer: Corner's refund policy, and the rights to cancel and be refunded where fans live, for example in the EU, the UK and South Korea.]
When a chat is paused
The Corner team can pause an athlete's chat, for example if a league, team or promotion objects. While it's paused, fans can't read it and nobody can subscribe. You aren't charged for renewals that fall in the pause: web renewals are skipped, and App Store and Google Play renewals are moved 30 days later. Apple allows this twice a year for each subscription; after that, Apple may renew while the chat is paused, and the app says so and how to cancel.
Translation
Corner translates athletes' messages into each fan's language automatically, by machine. It translates a fan's replies only if the fan allows it: into the athlete's language and, when an athlete answers one, into each fan's. Sign-up asks, and “Translate my replies” in Settings changes it. Translations can be wrong or miss what was meant. The original is always a tap away, with “See original”.
Your replies
- Replies are short texts, up to 300 characters, and at most 5 a minute.
- You keep what you write. You let Corner store your replies, translate them if you allow it, show them to the athlete and the Corner team, and, if the athlete answers one, show it to every fan of that chat, quoted without your name. [For the lawyer: the exact licence.]
- Everything you write must follow the Community Guidelines.
Athletes' messages
- Everything posted in an athlete's name is written or approved by that athlete.
- The Corner team can draft and schedule messages for an athlete, but they go out only once the athlete approves them.
- [For the lawyer: who owns athletes' messages, photos, videos and voice notes, and what fans may do with them.]
Safety, warnings and bans
- Fans can report any message or reply they see, and athletes any reply to their chat. Each report goes to the Corner team.
- Athletes can hide replies to their chat and block a fan from replying to it.
- The Corner team can remove a message, hide a reply, warn an account or ban it. A banned account can't sign in: Corner cancels its web subscriptions and stops its Google Play ones renewing, and an App Store subscription has to be cancelled in Apple's settings. [For the lawyer: notice, appeals and refunds after a ban.]
Notifications
Corner can tell you when an athlete you subscribe to posts: on your phone, once you allow Corner's notifications there, or by email when no phone of yours gets them. Both are on until you turn them off in the app's Settings, and each email has a link that turns the emails off.
Changes
- Corner may change the app, add or remove features, or stop working with an athlete. [For the lawyer: what happens to a paid subscription when an athlete leaves Corner.]
- If these terms change, the new version is posted here. [For the lawyer: how people are told about changes, and when they take effect.]
- You can stop using Corner at any time, and have your account deleted, as “Your account” says.
Legal terms
- [For the lawyer: warranties, limits of liability and indemnity.]
- Wherever you live, you keep the rights your country's consumer law gives you: nothing in these terms takes them away.
- [For the lawyer: the governing law, the courts or arbitration, and how disputes are settled. In the EU, the UK, Brazil and South Korea, among others, fans can go to their own country's courts whatever these terms say.]
- These terms come in each of the languages Corner speaks. [For the lawyer: which version counts if two of them differ. In many countries the reader's own language does, whatever the terms say.]
